According to DRUM Magazine, Uzalo's Kay Sibiya has gone against his own words as he realized that he could be burning bridges.

Yesterday, the publication reported that Kay who plays the role of Ayanda Mdletshe on SABC1 hit telenovela, Uzalo exclusively revealed to them that he was "underpaid yet over-worked" and that was the reason as to why he called it quits with the soapie.
The publication further reported that he said he’s currently shooting a new Mzansi Magic soapie.

However, in an interview with TishaLive today, Kay denied this stating that he worked as hard as any other actor on the show and did not hold any grudges with the show's producers about his work hours or pay.
"There is no bad blood or beef between me and the show's producers. I keep in contact with them and recently attended a funeral for one of my Uzalo colleagues. So, we have a good relationship," Kay said.

He further added that he's not leaving the soapie but rather taking a break for a short-while.

"I'm not leaving the show, the issue is a logistical one. I've decided to move to Johannesburg to further my personal interests but the show requires that its cast film in KwaZulu-Natal. That means that my character will be off-screen for a short time while we discuss whether I can film in Johannesburg," Kay said.
He said that he was looking forward to taking on fresh challenges in Johannesburg and has scouted out several opportunities, but had not yet committed to any new projects.

When asked by DRUM Magazine the reason as to why he was denying prior reports, Kay said,

“Yes, I’m leaving the show, but I’m not leaving with bad blood, I’m leaving in good spirits, as I can’t afford to ruin relationships with the people, who launched my career”.
2017 starts with bad news for all of you Uzalo Fans after Pastor Bae 'Kay Sibiya' revealed that he has called it quits with popular soapie Uzalo.

Speaking to DRUM, Kay made it clear that he will not be part of the Soapie's lineup when the show returns for the next season. The reason for him leaving the soapie is pointed to the low payments that he gets for the hard-work he does.

“I’ve left Uzalo and I relocated back to Joburg. You cannot be overworked and underpaid,” he told the publication.

He added that he’s busy shooting a new soapie, which will air on Mzansi Magic. “I cannot say much about the soapie I’m going to, but I look forward to the change of scenery – it’s going to be interesting,” he said.

However, he didn’t say how his character, Ayanda, will exit the drama series, only saying: “It’s going to shock everyone.”

A rumor that fan-favorite Khaya Dladla who plays GC on Uzalo died has gone viral on social media with some heartbroken fans failing to contain their emotions and sharing the post.

The rumor was started on Facebook and spread like wild fire. Many people believed it and seemed to be in shock as they could not contain it that she was dead only a few days after Sfiso Ncwane died. One facebook fan wrote : “My life has been ruined, first Sfiso and now GC. Ke December yamasimba”

However, hellomzansi has established that the rumor is nothing but a blatant lie and Khaya Dladla is very much alive. Uzalo wrote : UZALO FAM, please do not believe those rumours. They are FALSE. Khaya Dladla is well ALIVE.

South African stars are always victim to false death rumors over the years. AKA has been a victim when he was pronounced dead last year. Emteee has also fallen victim to the bad lies.

According to Daily Sun the actor said that he was shocked to find his picture on a poster advertising the event.

“I was so shocked when I saw the poster. I was scared my fans would think I was rude for not showing up but my legal team is dealing with it," he said.

However, the event's organisers blamed the debacle on a communication breakdown. "We didn’t speak to him directly. I think there was a communication breakdown between him and his management. We wouldn't use an artist on posters without their consent," one of the organisers known as DJ Webster told the paper.

Khaya also warned fans not to believe the fake advert through a social media post.

"If you were heading there to see me, please don't be disappointed because I'm not going to a gig that did not book or even ask for a quotation this is illegal and my legal team is working on it...I set examples," he wrote.

Contrary to her character on SABC 1's hit telenovela Uzalo, actress Nelisa Mchunu has come out strongly against dishonest pastors, warning young girls to stay away from them.

Nelisa Mchunu plays the character of Fikile, an outspoken girl, who is head over heels in love with Pastor Nkosi - whose storyline involves being a sex pest and a church thief.

However, unlike her character, the actress believes it's best for women to avoid 'fake pastors.'

Speaking to Daily Sun, she explained: "As a young lady, it is important to know your worth, stay committed to your faith.

"You must not allow a man, regardless of his position, to make you do something that doesn’t agree with your morals."

This comes in the wake of reports that real-life pastors were displeased with the character of Pastor Nkosi, alleging that he makes them look bad.

In response, Uzalo revealed it depicts "what is really happening out there.'

"It is not to say all pastors are bad, but these things happen," the show's publicist, Koketso Phala explained
It's been a pattern he's become accustomed to for too long and now Bonga has decided to put an end to it.

His bad boy persona and impeccable charm on SABC 1’s Uzalo caught many viewer’s attention. But sadly, Mkhonto, played by actor Bonga Dlamini, was suddenly written out of the show just as his character was gaining momentum.

Due to his sudden departure from the show, this did not settle well with the actor, as he’s experienced this far too many times in his 10-year career.

Speaking to Drum Magazine, Bongani explained that his decision to quit acting was not an impulsive decision, but rather one that was influenced by a history of acting gigs that have lead him to financial and emotional turmoil.

After a sudden call from the company explaining that they no longer needed his services, Bongani new that it was time to throw in the towel.

“I’ve done quite a few acting gigs and it’s been a challenge to keep jumping from one job to another. I think I should be granted the privilege of getting a job and staying there for a long time – not just for me, but for the storyline and the viewers. It pains me that I have to come to this decision but I don’t act for fame, I went to school for it," Bonga said.

In the interview, Bonga explains that he was shocked when he was fired from the show. Bonga also dismissed the rumours that Uzalo producers let him go because he demanded more money.

Here’s what to expect this week on ‘Uzalo’.

Monday, June 6

A hostage situation at the Xulu house becomes very intense. Manzuza is concerned about both her boys losing their lives as multiple gun shots are heard inside the Xulu house. Dhlomo and Mondli enter the Xulu house to be greeted by a bloodbath.

Tuesday, June 7

Mangcobo fights for her life. Manzuza suspects Mxolisi is back in the criminal world. Mamlambo sees a dark cloud over Ayanda and Mxolisi, doubts they will ever find peace. Ayanda and Mxolisi fight. Ayanda apologises to Mangcobo who is comatose. Mxolisi tells Manzuza he’s not a criminal.

Wednesday, June 8

It’s not looking good for Mangcobo, and the doctors have news that will require something drastic to be done. Ayanda faces the church board, and a decision about his future is taken. Investigations about the shooting are rife, and the involved parties have to agree on the version of events.
Uzalo actor, Khaya Dladla, who plays the role of GC, continues to impress viewers with his larger than life persona and zest for life.

Khaya made viewers of the drama series fall in love with him more after he gave a very dramatic, yet hilarious performance this week.

It all started when GC unexpectedly ran to the police station to file a case against Detective Mondli, the boyfriend of his close friend Nosipho, just because he broke her heart.

Only a friend like GC would literally go to the police station and file such a charge. Who are on earth does that?!

Just when we thought GC couldn’t be more hilarious, he then was embroiled in a confrontation with Nosipho - in front of everyone at the local salon.

Even though Nosipho tried to reprimand him, GC wasn't hearing it and so the earrings came off.

The African News Agency is reporting that the show‚ which is produced by president Jacob Zuma’s daughter Gugulethu‚ was accused during the debate on the Economic Development and Tourism budget of receiving preferential treatment. This while other film projects in the province struggle to receive funding.
“We are [also] worried that this government has provided funding opportunities for people who are already established and have political connections to the ANC. A prime example is the financial support given to Uzalo‚ which is produced by president Zuma’s daughter‚ Gugu Zuma. The ANC-led eThekwini municipality gave this drama R5 million‚” the National Freedom Party’s Happy Khuzwayo said.
However‚ ANC legislators defended the funding of Uzalo‚ saying it had raised Durban’s profile. They also noted that Gugulethu had benefitted as part of a wider project that aimed to correct past imbalances.
“You might think that is not correct for Gugu Zuma to get support because of her surname‚ but you need to look deeper into the matter. She is born in Nkandla‚ she is part of rural community and she is an individual on her own‚” The ANC’s Sibonisa Duma said.
The show‚ filmed in the Durban township Kwa-Mashu‚ debuted in February last year to an average audience of around five million viewers‚ making it one of the most popular TV show’s in the country. It was recently extended for a second season.

AN Uzalo Love Story May Be Playing Out In Real Life As Onscreen “Love Birds” Gugu Zulu And Naymaps Maphalala Have Been Recently Spotted Enjoying Lunch In And Around Durban.

The sexy actress and musician was spotted by a fan with Maphalala, who plays her onscreen lover Mxolisi Xulu, at a restaurant at the Gateway Mall restaurant in Umhlanga Ridge, northern Durban.

The fan, who sent us the pictures of the two cosily having lunch, said she had spotted the two a number of times looking all lovey dovey at the upmarket mall.
On Mzansi’s current number one ranked telenovela, Zulu plays the character of Zwi, who is Mxolisi ’ s new love interest.
The two have set tongues wagging among Uzalo fans and gossip mongers. Some have asked if this is a question of life imitating art far more than art imitating life.
When questioned by Sunday World, Zulu refused to be drawn into the rumours, saying she does not discuss her private life in the media.

“I don’t entertain rumours, people will always talk,” she said.

Working on music video

Her single Bambelela is already on high rotation in local radio stations in KZN.
“We decided to launch it in the Valentine’s week because it’s a love song. It talks about values and patience in a relationship, ” said Zulu.

The 23-year-old Durbanite said she was inspired by the Shakespeare sonnet Let Me Not To The Marriage Of True

Minds, especially the line that reads “love is not love which alters when it alteration finds”.
“Shakespeare says ‘ love alters not with his brief hours and weeks but bears it out even to the edge of doom’ and that ’ s profound.

“People are quick to divorce these days because they don’t understand that building a meaningful relationship takes time and patience,” Zulu said.

She said her song aims to bring people back to old school values.

Zulu said she would continue acting as the two careers were not mutually exclusive. “I am loving my time at

Uzalo and hope to grow my acting career further with time. Music and acting are both artistic expressions that I love with all my heart,” said Zulu.

Her producer, Xolani Majozi, who is also manager of the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo, said he was not aware of the rumours of romance involving Zulu.
“All I know is that Gugu and Naymaps are working on the music video of her single. I don’t know anything about them being intimate,” said Majozi.
Zulu graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Performance Studies from Howard College UKZN in 2013.

“I can sing any genre because my music taste is eclectic. I get ideas from a broad and diverse range of genres, including jazz, gospel and classical music. I am versatile, you can’t put me in a box, ” said Zulu.

She proved her versatility when she worked with music legends PJ Powers and Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 2015 on the Ladysmith Black Mambazo Night of the Legends concert held in Durban
