It's been a pattern he's become accustomed to for too long and now Bonga has decided to put an end to it.
His bad boy persona and impeccable charm on SABC 1’s Uzalo caught many viewer’s attention. But sadly, Mkhonto, played by actor Bonga Dlamini, was suddenly written out of the show just as his character was gaining momentum.
Due to his sudden departure from the show, this did not settle well with the actor, as he’s experienced this far too many times in his 10-year career.
Speaking to Drum Magazine, Bongani explained that his decision to quit acting was not an impulsive decision, but rather one that was influenced by a history of acting gigs that have lead him to financial and emotional turmoil.
After a sudden call from the company explaining that they no longer needed his services, Bongani new that it was time to throw in the towel.
“I’ve done quite a few acting gigs and it’s been a challenge to keep jumping from one job to another. I think I should be granted the privilege of getting a job and staying there for a long time – not just for me, but for the storyline and the viewers. It pains me that I have to come to this decision but I don’t act for fame, I went to school for it," Bonga said.
In the interview, Bonga explains that he was shocked when he was fired from the show. Bonga also dismissed the rumours that Uzalo producers let him go because he demanded more money.
