The first round of the Top 16  was a bit underwhelming but Noma and Siyakha made up for it.

The competitiveness on Idols SA is getting more interesting and as the faith of each contestant lies in the voting hands of the public, we cannot wait to see what this weeks episode will unfold.

On Sunday night we saw the eight ladies of the Top 16 group put in that extra effort with their collaborative performance of Rihanna's  hit single - Work.

Valentine sustained the energy as the first performer with her rendition of Beyonce's Halo.  Gareth Cliff and Somizi gave her nothing but praise for her song choice and performance but the praises soon dwindled as more ladies came on stage.

Lucia, Sgherdeed, Luke and Nosihe unfortunately, did not give off their best performances however, it was Noma and Siyakha who later on saved the night.

A reserved Noma Khumalo blew us out of our seats when she sang Rihanna's Stay. Judging by her performance, we have no doubt that Noma will be staying for the next round of the competition.

Noma nearly brought Unathi to tears but this time around Unathi managed to hold those tears back as she gave her the most flattering comment thus far.

"The universe was in alignment and God was showing off.." Said Unathi to Noma after that riveting performance and we couldn't agree more.

Just when we thought we had seen the best, Siyakha shut it down with Zinhle Ngidi and Trademark's Valelisa. A song that has supposedly been on the top of the charts but strange enough none of us have heard it before.

Even people on Twitter expressed their little to no knowledge of the song but Siyakha did justice to her performance so we're not complaining.

One of the judges had expressed that Siyakha should've smiled a bit whilst performing the house song, clearly they haven't seen Babes Wodumo's facial expression when dancing and singing at the same time.

And Proverb was correct when he said that you must look like you're nauseous when dancing, funny but true.

We may stand corrected come next week, but judging by both of these ladies performances, Noma and Siyakha won't be going home this week.
