Generations: The Legacy actress Letoya Makhene has set the record straight over claims that she practises witchcraft in her personal life.
Letoya, who is also a sangoma, came under fire from viewers who recently confused her character Tshidi’s story line with Letoya’s real life.
In the soapie, Tshidi has been seen doing witchcraft with a snake to protect her family. The soapie hogged the Twitter trends list for days after Tshidi’s first scene with the snake aired.
This also led some people to believe that Letoya also practises witchcraft.
Speaking to Move! magazine, Letoya has slammed the claims.
“I am a healer. A child of the gods. The stories I tell on Generations are in no way a reflection of my views, but I will tell them to the best of my ability,” she said.
Letoya explained that as a sangoma she refuses to be associated with witchcraft.
“Tshidi is doing nothing less of witchcraft, and it is witchcraft regardless of the fact that she’s doing it out of love for her family. Witchcraft is a negative space and I refuse to put myself in it,” she added.
