It has been confirmed, former Scandal actress Masasa Mbangeni has joined SABC 2 Thola.
She also took to social media to confirm that she is nolonger part of the Scandal crew
A few weeks ago DRUM reported that the actress has joined the drama series, however, she dismissed the reports in another publication. The SABC 2 has now released a statement confirming the season 2 cast of Thola, and Mbangeni’s name is there.

The new cast includes Mbangeni and former Rhythm City’s Keabetswe Motsilanyane who takes the character of Dibuseng, formerly played by Nthati Moshesh and former Isidingo actress, Kgomotso Christopher.

According to the producer Kethiwe Ngcobo, the show is always exhilarating. “All the cast and crew all put such a lot of energy and effort into making something that we really hope the audience will enjoy. Marina Bekker the head writer and creator did an amazing job of writing something that will thrill, shock and amaze with every twist and turn of the plot,” says Kethiwe.

The series comes back on Wednesday 25 May 2016 at 9:30pm.

After sifting through 5000 online entries, the search for e.tv's Rhythm City actress came to an exciting conclusion. Nomalanga Shozi is the newest cast member to join the award-winning soapie, and coincidentally, she'll be playing the role of Nomalanga.

This comes during the height of #OpenUpTheIndustry – a debate topic on Twitter about the same faces being seen in the entertainment industry.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment an excited Nomalanga, who is also a radio host on KZN’s Gagasi FM, revealed that she’s always wanted to be in front of the camera as a TV personality.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to be on TV. Yes, I’ve done short films for film students, but it has never been anything as big and professional,” she said.

Hailing from Port Shepstone, KwaZulu Natal, Nomalanga said she didn’t expect the experience  to be pleasant. She admitted that she thought fellow Rhythm City actors would stay aloof from her, because she’s a new face in the industry. However, she has since been proven wrong.

“The cast has been very warm, welcoming and very helpful. They are so down-to-earth, which isn’t what I was expecting,” she said.

“It has been one of the best experiences so far, and I’m looking forward to what’s coming.”

The actress will be playing the role of Nomalanga, Zolani’s fiancé and the daughter of a mining magnate and struggle veteran.

“She’s a feisty, catsy and successful woman. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants, especially from her man – who she controls. She’s also very deceitful and manipulative,” Nomalanga said, describing her character.

She also added that she’s been doing extensive research in preparation of this role.

Speaking of her support structure, the 22-year-old revealed her mom has always been hopeful that she would bag this role, while her dad was surprised when they received the news.

Rhythm City star Samkelo Ndlovu recently took a swipe at Tshepi Vundla‚ a fashion stylist who tweeted that people in the entertainment industry‚ including herself‚ can potentially earn the same as “professional people on one contract.

Taking to the social media site‚ Samkelo indirectly responded to the tweet‚ claiming that the stylist has not been heard nor seen entertaining. Therefore‚ asking why Tshepi was referring to herself as being of part of the entertainment industry‚ adding “standby wardrobe doesn’t count.”

While Tshepi didn’t hit back at the actress‚ both her and Samkelo trended on Twitter‚ as users took to sharing both their tweets‚ weighing in and laughing at the spicy shade.
Despite hogging the trends list for hours Samu seemed undeterred by the widespread debate she sparked.
Samu explained that she was just asking valid questions because she feels like people just want the title so that it can be flaunted‚ instead of starting from the bottom.
“People never wanna be seen earning their stripes. They never wanna be seen getting down and doing the work. They just want the title so they can flaunt it on their social media bio's. That's not real life.”
