He is the king of guy other men might secretly admire – he gets to hang out with some of Mzansi’s A-list celebrities, while simultaneously outshining them with his wealth and success.
But there is a darker, less appealing side to him: a home wrecker who leaves the relationships of the rich and famous broken in his wake.
Instead of being known for his successful businesses, Edwin Sodi is known as a celebrity marriage/relationship wrecker who has left a trail of broken hearts.
First he reportedly caused the collapse of DJ Sbu and fiancée/baby mama Disebo Makatsa’s relationship, then he set his sights on the 10-year marriage of Idols SA host ProVerb and his high school sweetheart Onalerona Thekisho.
SHOCKING BREAK-UPS
The man behind these shocking break-ups is allegedly a Bryanston businessman and founder of Blackhead Consulting, who seems to zero in on the wives and partners of well-known personalities.
Edwin – who reportedly lives with the mother of his child, former Capricorn FM and Radio 2000 presenter Nthateng Lerata – confirmed his extra-marital affair with Disebo, and also admitted knowing Onalerona, to Sunday newspapers last year.
When former Metro FM presenter DJ Sbu busted him and Disebo at an airport on their “business trip” to Hong Kong, Edwin told a Sunday newspaper that he didn’t know the two were still together. He claimed that Disebo had told him that it was over between them.

Disebo, a geoscientist and an MBA graduate, rubbished rumours that she cheated on DJ Sbu and was quoted as saying: “There was no man or any person who caused our separation. It was an amicable separation.”
DISMISSING RUMOURS
Meanwhile, Onalerona denied dating the Johannesburg tycoon when the reports first surfaced, claiming that she simply knows him as “a guy I normally meet at the car wash”.
The two apparently met at a car wash in Ruimsig, north of Joburg, in 2013, and their affair started behind their respective partners’ backs. The two reportedly went on a subsequent “business trip” to Dubai. Their steamy affair was confirmed by ProVerb in August last year on social media, but he was quick to say he had forgiven his wife and they were working things out.
CALLING IT QUITS
In October, however, ProVerb said it was over between him and his wife, but he later denied talking to the media. He was quoted as saying: “At first I thought it was nonsense, but then I confirmed it with her and then it all made sense to me.”
On another occasion he said: “I tried to deal with it, but I simply couldn’t because it was affecting me much more than I though it would. My sole focus is on raising my kids. I don’t have faith in my marriage any more, because I feel like I have been living a lie for 10 years. Now, at least I know the truth, so I can move on.”
He then accused us of lying and even posted pictures of him and his wife having a good time. It seems he was just trying to cover up when he said they were still happily married and posted happy pictures of them on social media because Onalerona announced their divorce on social media a few weeks ago, proving our initial reports were true after all.
Meanwhile, Edwin asked us to call him before we were to press, but he didn’t answer or respond to questions sent to him.
