A racist Facebook post comparing calling black people to “monkeys” trended on Twitter on Monday.

Penny Sparrow‚ an estate agent‚ angered many on social media when her utterance was widely circulated.
Sparrow said of holiday crowds at the coast: “these monkeys that are allowed to be released on New Years Eveand new years day on to public beaches towns etc obviously have no education what so ever and to allow them loose is inviting huge dirt and discomfort to others”.

She added: “From now I. Shall address the blacks of South Africa as monkeys as I see the cute little wild monkeys do the same pick drop and litter.”
Sparrow was connected by many to Jawitz Properties‚ whom she worked for previously. The company has distanced itself from Sparrow and said it is seeking legal opinion on the matter.
Sparrow later apologised for the post.

But NSKAY ?@ItIsShe–Nkuli was having none of it: “#PennySparrow We’re intelligent humans & insulting us just infuriates us. Fck your apology. You said it‚ you meant it #RacismMustFall”.
Neither was Kirsten Whitfield @KirstenWhiff‚ who tweeted: “@JawitzProp #PennySparrow is not sorry‚ she was on the radio this morning defending her views and saying her boss’s anger is only public”.
Gugulethu Kunene ?@GugulethuKunen2 suggested Sparrow should emigrate: “#JustineVanVuuren #PennySparrow You are too comfortable‚ calling us all names‚ take the next flight to wherever you won’t live with animals”‚ as did It’s ZÄR @DeeJayMphoZAR: “Can #PennySparrow leave our country ASAP before we lose our Monkey Cools”.
The Democratic Alliance’s leader was one of the first politicians to weigh in on the issue.
Mmusi Maimane ?@MmusiMaimane tweeted: “#PennySparrow comments are racist. They are an insult to me and to our party. We have too many of these in SA & we must criminalize these.”
Simphiwe Mandlesilo ?@Simcardzz urged the Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters to get involved: “Dear fighters @EconFreedomZA are you going to do something about this? “Concomitant action” is needed urgently #PennySparrow”.
