AKA is the most played local artist on radio, Surprising Cassper Nyovest Isn't among the top ten

2015 has been the year of AKA and we have the numbers to prove it.

The SUPERMEGA is sitting at fourth position overall and is the most played local artist with 9,881 plays in the period of 12/01/2014 -12/01/2015.

He is still sitting firm on fourth well into the December with 382 radio plays in the 12/03/2015 -12/09/2015 period.

The Weeknd received the most plays (544), followed by Justin Bieber, Adele and Chris Brown respectively.

The local hip hop artist and music group Micasa who are 5 on the overall list beat American rapper Drake, One Direction and Taylor Swift (last years most played artist). 

Another local artist made the overall top ten is new rapper on the block eMtee.  The Eastern Cape born rapper has been keeping audience heads bopping to his single Roll Up.

This is not the only radio feat that AKA has accomplished. He announced on twitter that his single Baddest has been playlisted on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

The radio play data was collated by Entertainment monitoring company Core Artist.
