Dancer Zodwa Wabantu is in high demand these days, and has even managed to get an invite to a government event in Zimbabwe
But the invitation comes with one condition – she has to wear underwear.
Zodwa is set to be a “main attraction” at the Harare International Carnival in September, and will dance alongside dancers from around the world, including 10 samba dancers from Brazil, and 20 dancers from Cuba.
The week-long event is being hosted by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).
Zodwa has a fan base in Zimbabwe, and officials want her appearance to target regional tourists.
But Zodwa, who has revealed in the past that she does not wear panties, will have to make sure her private parts are covered
“I hope she will have her panties. If she cannot perform in panties then we don’t want her because chiefs will not like it,” TshisaLive quoted ZTA’s CEO Karikoga Kaseke as saying at a press conference.
Zodwa made headlines last month when she showed up at the Durban July in a very risqué outfit. Her hip-high slit revealed her bare bottom, and caused a stir on social media.
“The inspiration behind it is that I wanted to be sexy and bold. I wanted to show I don’t really wear a panty. In the photos my cellulite is clearly visible, I wanted to show women we don’t have to hide what we are,” she told SowetanLive about her outfit choice.
Other South African entertainers making an appearance at Zimbabwe’s carnival include Uhuru and Babes Wodumo.
