It has emerged that Arthur Mafokate could be slapped with charges of reckless and negligent driving in addition to the assault charges he is already facing, laid against him by singer Cici
Arthur appeared briefly in the Midrand Magistrates Court last Friday where Cici’s lawyer requested that more charges be added to the charge sheet.
According to Sunday World, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has asked the investigating officer to investigate the possibility of adding the charge.
“The accused has not yet pleaded to the charge before him so nothing stops the NPA from adding further charges to the charge sheet. The investigating officer has been asked to conduct further investigations and once the investigations have been concluded and we are satisfied with new information received, then we could possibly add further charges,” NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwana told the paper.
The tabloid also claims that a law enforcement agent said that the assault case against Arthur may not stick in court.
“In the statement this woman has deposed, she doesn’t say Mafokate assaulted her. It is going to be tricky to prove assault here,” said the agent.
Cici laid charges of assault against Arthur after a fight between them apparently turned violent
Arthur also laid a counter assault charge against Cici.
Both cases are currently being heard in court.
