Muvhango's young actor Senzokuhle "Senzo" Radebe is recuperating at a Joburg private clinic after being involved in a freak car accident that nearly cost his life.

In the SABC2 soapie, Radebe (23) is better known for playing Sthe Gumede, a friend of heir to the Thate throne Vusi Mukwevho, portrayed by Raphael Griffiths.

The actor, a student at the International Fitness School and Academy in Sandton, north of Jozi, was last week walking near the bustling and busy Noord Street taxi rank in the Joburg CBD when the accident occurred.

"Apparently, he was crossing (the street) when two taxis collided and he was sandwiched between them," said Muvhango publicist Amanda Ngudle.

“What shocked me was that he didn’t have transport. I thought since he was staying with other actors they had transport arranged for them. My mum nearly had a heart attack, but she’s doing well. His arm was badly injured and was operated on,” she said.

Amanda said Senzo’s colleagues were shocked to hear he was admitted to a public hospital.

“That means they’re paid peanuts. We’re grateful to the people who recognised him when he was lying there injured. They called the SABC to tell them of Senzo’s accident.

“It didn’t go down well with other actors that their colleague was admitted to a public hospital and that he had to catch a taxi to work.

“They were calling for transport to be provided,” the actor’s sister said.

Senzo’s mum, Zamahlubi said:he lost his cellphone in the accident. “Thank God he’s still alive.”

Ngudle was sent some questions via SMS and she replied saying: “Are we talking about the same person you reported to have been on strike? You must be joking.”

When asked for comment, Senzo said: “I’m doing well. Tomorrow I’ll be discharged. And thanks to the sister who saw the accident and alerted my family.”
