A man was killed and 17 others were injured when a taxi they were travelling in along the M4 south in Durban overturned on Wednesday evening, paramedics said.
"A fully laden taxi somehow lost control and collided with the barriers before overturning and coming to rest on its side," Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said.
The incident took place just after Quality Street around 17:30.
"One man believed to be in his thirties suffered severe injuries and had passed away before paramedics arrival. He was declared deceased on the scene," Jamieson said.
Other passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. They were treated on the scene before being taken to nearby hospitals.
