But this "mistake", says Fisher, Michelle Jephta on the SABC3 series, was her biggest blessing.
Fisher, who grew up in Horseshoe, Joburg, was expecting her first child, due in May.
But the actress said her boyfriend of five years, property developer Dion Gabrielides, and her only found out about it when she was already eight weeks along.
That's because the couple had not planned the pregnancy.
"We'd been cautious, but God had other plans," she said. "I realised I was late and did self-tests while on holiday in Zanzibar in October."
But the 34-year-old, also a model and dancer, said she was ecstatic about having the little one.
"I am 28 weeks along, and this pregnancy has been the biggest, unscripted, unrehearsed and most permanent role in my life," said Fisher.
"It's all new to me. I have no illusions about the adjustment about to come upon us. But Dion and I share a great bond and love each other deeply.
"I would not want this with anyone else but him."
Fisher, who shot to fame on e.tv's Backstage as Roxanne more than a decade ago, said she wanted to keep the baby's sex an element of surprise.

"We are looking forward to a healthy baby and a smooth delivery, regardless of the gender," she said. "We have some boy and girl name options, but want to look into baby's eyes and get a feel of what he or she should be named."
Unable to contain her excitement, Fisher said she could not wait to go out and shop for her unborn baby.
But due to personal beliefs, was holding out on that thought.
"We feel it's too soon to start buying baby items. It's a superstition that one should not rush such things," said Fisher.
"I have my eye on really awesome stuff though. I'll be happy to show them off as soon as we make the purchases."
But more exciting to her was that the High Rollers scriptwriters had written her pregnancy into the storyline.
"The writing department did very well to incorporate it into the show. My character falls in love with a new-money IT geek, who is too good to be true," she said.
"The storyline touches on relevant but often-kept-silent prevalence of domestic violence and emotional abuse. The story ends tragically and Michelle is left to pick up the pieces of her life, only to discover that she is pregnant with his child."
