AFTER losing its hard-working principal last year, many said Menzi High School would not maintain its 100% matric pass rate.

But the school in Umlazi, south of Durban, has proven everyone wrong by doing it again in 2015!
Principal Felix Mshololo died in February last year and his funeral attracted many high-ranking officials.
Speaking at the funeral, education MEC Peggy Nkonyeni said Mshololo was the best principal the province had ever seen.
Under his management, the school got a 100% pass rate for five years in a row. Acting principal Patrick Tenza said when he took over many said he wouldn’t be able to match Mshololo’s standard.
“After taking over, I called my staff and told them we had to honour our late principal by maintaining the 100% pass rate.
“We also needed to prove our success was a team effort,” he said.
Tenza said he and the teachers were very excited that on top of the 100% pass rate, two pupils got seven distinctions each.
Ntobeko Cele (17) and Samukelisiwe Ndlovu got places on the province’s top 10 achievers list and will today join eight others at the Albert Luthuli Convention Centre when KZN’s official results are announced.
