Generations: The Legacy actress Manaka Ranaka has killed a schoolgirl in a car

Millicent Mbonani, 18, of Phumula section on the East Rand was crossing a road near the N3 to Durban on Friday when Ranaka, who was driving a BMW, drove into her. The Grade 12 pupil at Leondale High School was confirmed dead at the scene by emergency services staff members.
The incident happened on the R554 road to Leondale near the highway in Roodekop.
Ranaka portrays ex-convict and thug Lucy on Generations.
According to a source close to the girl's family, Ranaka claimed that she did not see the teenager.
The source further said the accident was "different" because police and traffic officers were not present at the scene.
Millicent was apparently visiting a friend in Roodekop at the time.
Yesterday a group of teachers from Mbonani's  school visited the family to offer condolences. The family declined to speak to Media
Leondale High's engineering and graphic design HOD Vusumuzi Mahlangu described Mbonani as an intelligent student. He said there was no doubt that the girl had passed though the results were not yet out. "She was a good student who worked hard, and we knew that she was going to pass because of her hard work."
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesman William Mohale-Ntladi confirmed the incident. He added that Ranaka was driving a red sedan but could not give more details on the accident.
Mohale-Ntladi said in the event of a fatality, the case is referred police for further investigation.
Ranaka did not want to comment, instead she referred queries to the Alberton police, who would also not comment.
Generations spokeswoman Gaaratwe Mokhethi commented: "Generations would like to give space to both families involved to deal with the tragedy."
Ranaka has acted in other shows such as Stokvel and Isidingo.
