Whether you love her or hate her, you can’t deny that Babes Wodumo knows how to get people talking. 

The dancer and singer’s second single, “Mercedes” has been extremely controversial after it was rumoured that she was singing about a popular Durban drug known as “Data”. 

On Sunday it was then reported that the song had been banned by the SABC for “promoting drug use”.Thankfully, however, the SABC was able to clarify this matter and they revealed that the song has not been banned. The national broadcaster’s spokesperson spoke to the public and revealed how songs get playlisted on national radio stations:"It goes through a selection process and individual radio stations either reject it or it is playlisted. 

There are numerous reasons a song can be rejected. I don't know if this song has been rejected as that is a matter for the stations."Meanwhile, Babes has been doing her very best to explain the meaning of the song.
