Oscar Pistorius has been rushed to Pretoria’s Kalafong Hospital after injuring his wrists in jail – and a cell mate says he did it on purpose.
According to News24 services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo however says that Oscar Pistorius injured himself falling out of bed.
According to the report‚ guards told them that blades had been found in Pistorius’ cell during a subsequent search.
One of the guards at the hospital told News24 that Pistorius was admitted at 12:30pm on Saturday and had ‘bad cuts’ on his wrists.
Professor Jonathan Scholtz‚ testifying at Pistorius’ sentencing hearing after the athlete was found guilty of murdering Reeva Steenkamp had said that the ‘Blade runner’ should be in hospital‚ not jail.
“He has become despondent‚ leaving his future in the hand of God. His current condition warrants hospitalisation‚” Scholtz had said at the time.
“His physical vulnerabilities have been well documented. He has developed major depression and post traumatic stress disorder. He appeared to have limited energy.”
According to the book Oscar: An Accident Waiting to Happen‚ Patricia Taylor described her final conversation with Pistorius long before Pistorius murdered Reeva Steenkamp‚ in which she slammed him for not seeing a psychologist to get his emotional issues under control.
“You never went to a psychologist‚ you never did what I kept telling you to do... even though every time we talked you admitted you needed help‚ and you swore on your life that you would get it‚” Taylor said.
